Fishing Club

Dan O'Brien

Beaver Lake Fishing Club was established in 1975 prior to our lake water rising to Full Pool.  Property owners of Beaver Lake established the non-profit organization.  The main goal of the club is aimed at providing the appropriate fish stockings needed to maintain a clear water fishery second to none.  The Club is also involved with educating youths from the surrounding area, in all aspects of fishing and enjoyment of the great outdoors. The Fishing Club also strives to keep our lake beautiful by sponsoring annual clean-up days. Club members have removed thousands of pounds of trash and debris found on our banks and in our lake. Recently, the Fishing Club placed fish habitats into the lake to allow the fish population to grow.

The Annual Free Kids Fishing Tournament draws many youngsters to the clubhouse. The kids are treated to a half-day of fishing, bait is free, and then they are rushed into the clubhouse to receive individual awards and prizes. The little casters are then fed a gourmet kids meal and allowed to go home happy with their parents.

They have also donated many items, such as, equipment for the cluhouse kitchen, the dance floor, tables & chairs, blinds, emergency lighting, the lights for the lake entrance sign, and many others. They have also put together a cookbook and are responsible for the lake phone book. Many of the activities and extra items at Beaver Lake have been made possible by the Auxiliary. The main purpose of the Auxiliary, as stated in the by-laws, is "to promote sociability and help improve and beautify Beaver Lake." Regular meetings are held the 1st Monday of each month with some exceptions. There are no meetings in January and February. Members also meet at various locations for breakfast the 2nd Monday of the month and for lunch on the 4th Tuesday of the month. Membership is open to any Beaver Lake Association member in good standing. The yearly dues are $5.

The Auxiliary is looking for new members to get involved with making Beaver Lake a better place to live. If you would like to join the Auxiliary, please contact Ann Chaney, Auxiliary President at 235-3576 or Janet Houston, Newcomer Chairperson at 235-2825 or come to a meeting.

Nature & Garden Club

Chairperson:
Connie Soukup 235-3078

The Beaver Lake Nature Club meets at the Clubhouse the second Thursday night from April through October at 7:00 p.m. Our club is open to anyone interested in the wild life around us, learning more about it, and enjoying others who share the same joy and concerns. Our meetings are short, leaving more time for the program presenters. Anyone can join; you do not have to be from Beaver Lake. Our dues of $5.00 per year are used to pay for some very interesting programs.

We have the good fortune to have a Wild Life Rescuer living here at the lake. Lana Halstead will accept injured or orphan animals and birds. She sends those she can not care for to the rescuer trained in that species. Her number is 235-2209.

Nature is more a part of all of us than we give thought to. It is important to save the habitats and environment around us. Drastic changes in these affect how we live our lives.

Please plan on joining us and learn to enjoy the nature around you.
