Nature Preserve

Tucked away, south of the dam and east our new Water Treatment plant is a little place of quiet solitude. It is the Beaver Lake Nature Preserve. Some of you know of its existence and have strolled through its paths and clearings on a summer evening. If you haven't visited it yet, you may want to check it out.

It is slowly being spruced up now that the construction of the new Water Treatment Plant project is winding down. Beaver Lake personnel are working on a new entry to the area, as the old way in was closed off by the new building. You still get there by taking Oxford Court to its end. You can park in the grassy area on the north side of the road, next to the fenced area at the Water Treatment Plant. There you will see our new sign, identifying the Beaver Lake Nature Preserve. A wood chip path takes you along the outside of the water plant fence and back around toward the original wooden entrance. Before you reach it, there is an area off to your left where a path and a bench have been placed which allow you to sit and listen to water run into the Rock Creek below. The area is frequented by an assortment of birds and wild life. You might even be able to spot a deer trail that cuts through the area. If you venture on through the wooden arch leading to the preserve, you will walk along a wide, grassy pathway. There is a raised patio area dedicated to the people who gave their time and energy to creating this area in 1987. Further along the path is a clearing with seating where you can sit and just listen to the sounds of nature. A narrower pathway takes you back through the trees, creating a circle back to the original wide grass pathway. If you have some time after a busy day and would like to just walk in a peaceful place, check out our Nature Preserve.

If you like to be outside and enjoy Nature, check out the Beaver Lake Nature & Garden Club
